Officers from the Westchester County Police Department responded to a residence on Main Street in Mount Kisco at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, when the homeowner returned home and found that someone was unexpectedly inside.

Police said that upon arrival, two officers saw Alfredo Arteaga, who has no listed address, attempting to flee by climbing out of a second-story window and took him into custody. At the time he was arrested, Arteaga was in possession of several commemorative coins in plastic sleeves that were part of the homeowner’s coin collection. He was also found with several small screwdrivers, a flashlight and gloves.

The investigation also found that Arteaga broke in through a back door that he pried open.

Arteaga, 22, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglar tools, criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and criminal misdemeanors. Following his arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court, Arteaga was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla in lieu of $3,000.
